Prescription drugs for genital warts coupled with prescribed procedures provide one of the most effective treatments to be  borne in mind that there is no cure for the virus which causes genital warts. Treatment for genital wart is not easy and worst still, they may recur at any point after successful treatment.

Imiquimod ( the brand name is Aldara ) a cream that should be applied three times a week for a period of 16 weeks.  This brand of cream is quite expensive but it clears genital warts in most of the cases.  It is safe and easy to use. Imiquimod boosts immune system in the body to fight HPV

Podofilox (Condylox) is a gel or liquid normally prescribed by Doctors is another variety which is to be applied directly to the genital wart twice a day , three times a week for up to four weeks. This prescription drug destroys tissues of genital warts. It is inexpensive and easy to use. Both the above drugs can be treated or used at home.

TCA (Trichloracetic acid) is another prescription that is used to treat the genital warts. Since TCA is a caustic acid , it is imperative that it should be used carefully not to damage the surrounding tissues.  This treatment can only be administered by a doctor in his chamber. The treatment may have to be continued for several weeks.

The anti viral drug called alpha-interferon can also be used. A physician injects it directly in the genital wart. It is expensive and although it gives temporary relief, it is ineffective to stop recurrence of the disease.

It is apparent that more than one type of treatment is required to deal the problem. But one thing is sure , you must  maintain good hygiene  and keeps your genital clean and dry and do not use scented soap and bath oils.
